TYPES OF STROKES:
3 Different Categories of Strokes:
CVA
This is a Cerebral Vascular Accident – it is the most severe type of stroke because people always remain with some form of permanent loss of body function. For example – if you are right-handed you are left brain dominant. Your speech center is in this same left side of the brain. Should the flow in your left carotid artery system become interrupted – your speech is interrupted as well. While you have the capability to speak as you read this – say “I want to contact Baseline Medical and get screened.” It’s an excellent way to invest 10 minutes of your time.
TIA
This is a Transient Ischemic Attack – it is often called a “mini-stroke”. Very similar to the CVA – to the great relief of the victim the symptoms completely go away within 24 hours. This is an amazing warning signal to you to act immediately and get screened. Your next “warning” may never go away and you will be noted as having had a full blown CVA. The bitter reality is that most people survive a CVA – the remaining percentage die. Don’t be in either group – get screened instead.
RND
This is as Reversible Neurological Deficit – some literature expresses this episode as a Reversible Ischemic Neurological Deficit. This is essentially a TIA that lasts longer than 24 hours and resolves in about a week to 10 days. And as with the CVA and TIA it is important to get screened to learn what is happening so that you can begin effective treatment. Doing nothing after having an RND makes no sense. People must remember those that you love are impacted forever as well. Imagine needing assistance everyday in the bathroom because you refused to consider how your family and friends would have to deal with your disability. If not for yourself – get screened because you love them. Baseline Medical is here to help you now.
